I had a lot of fun this past weekend. Last week was pretty good. I don't think I've felt that productive in a long time.
Friday night I went to the casino with some of the guys and then went to CT's place. A lot of us were getting ready for Founders' Day, especially the entertainment group. I didn't do much but do candle stuff. Afterwards, most of us headed over to Trung's to hang out with Taiko alumni and friends.
There were Taikos, alumni, DEPsi bros, and DPO girls that came over. The night was full of mainly poker for me. I played with Tim's money but I lost it all due to a stupid all-in even though I shouldn't let people influence me, especially Binh.
Julie called me and texted me later that night because Ti hasn't been picking up so I told him and because of that, he left me his chips and splashed the pot. I played with his chips the rest of the night/morning. We played until 6:45 am. I played really tight that night due very loose/crazy people like Joel and Stanley and others until I did the stupid all-in. When there were only like 5 of us, I actually got to play poker the way I wanted.
I headed over to CT's with Tim and Hieu after poker. Most of the guys were sleeping. BJ and CT were working on the video. I stayed up for a bit and headed to sleep because I was planning to play basketball at 10 am. So I had like a 3 hour sleep. I remember CT eating cereal and I was really cold sleeping on the floor with Hieu and Ti.
We went to play basketball at the Huff a little after 10. Okay, maybe like 20 or 30 min after 10. We (the actives/chapter members) lost to alumni. We thought we would win but we were wrong. Paul is crazy!
I went home afterwards because parents were a little pissed because I haven't been home and I needed to go home and do stuff. I went home cleaned up the hosue kind of and then slept. I woke up at 5:20 to get ready for Founders' Day. I picked up Paulinna and then we were off to Marriott on N.W. Expressway.
We arrived at Marriott and I saw Steven Tam and the beta colony guys. We arrived at the ball room. There were so many Taikos in one place! I introduced myself to most of the alumni I didn't know. There was a lot of socializing and such. It is kind of hard trying to entertain my date Paulinna and getting out to know people. I tried my best introducing her to the people I know.
I don't want to get into details about Founders' Day, but i do have to say it was awesome. Mitra was a great MC, we had great speeches, the entertainment was awesome. Props to the entertainment committee making the video. Tony did a great job on the slideshow. It was also a historic moment in Taiko history because all 20 members of Alpha Chapter received the award for the principle of Harmony. It was a great moment and grand surprise!
The night ended with a lot of picture-taking. There were lineage pictures, class pictures, and pictures with different organizations. People left to after-parties and such. I left to go home at about 11ish or 12ish, I don't even remember. I took Paulinna home and then I went home to sleep.
Today is going to be my brother's birthday party although yesterday (saturday) was his birthday. I'm glad his party is today otherwise I would feel bad for not being at his party most of the time. Well, I have couple tests coming up this following week. Hopefully I do well on them. There are also some events this following week. Next Saturday will be the great day that the Iota monkeys are jumping. Hopefully people will be out there to watch, but most importantly, hopefully I will land safely.
BIG PROPS to Adam organizing such an awesome Founders' Day, making my first Founders' Day so memorable. I am so proud to be a Taiko.
